How to add Sell Part of to a Product

Introduction

Some components get cut up into different sizes to make a component for a product you are creating. For example, laser ply, acrylic sheet stock, engraving plate, sublimation plate, trophy column extrusion. Other components are bought in bag lots such as rods, washers etc and some components are in volume form such as glue. "Sell Part of allows you take a portion of the component and apply it and the cost to a Products Bill of Materials and order the full part as needed.

Sell Part of components are classified as either:

·         a shape (cutting a shape from the original. Such as sheet of engravers Ply) or

·         a Unit of (taking a piece of a length. Such as Column extrusion or adhesive tape)

It's up to you how deeply you want to go with this. In our trophy shop we we set up adhesive tape as sell part of and then estimate the amount for each product. We also set up UV adhesive glue as sell part of. You don't have to go this far with it just take it as far as you want to.

In the Components section of the Help System you will find detailed documentation of Sell Part Of and you will also find detailed videos to help you understand the AwardPro Sell Part Of system

Sell Part Of Example (basic)

You want to create a Sublimation Award Plaque as a Product.

1. Add a timber plaque

2. Add the sublimation sheet code, say Brushed Gold sub plate.

When you add this code (which has been set up as a Sell Sart Of) you get prompted with the Sell Part Of window which asks what size you want the sublimation plate to be. Type in the size and AwardPro works out the cost of that part and adds the size you require to the bill of materials.

3. When selling the plaque the program knows what size you require and:

a) Works out how many full sheets you will need for the job based on the quantity being purchased

b) Checks for any sheets or part sheets in stock before ordering the sheets to do the job.

Sell Part Of facility

The ‘Sell Part Of’ facility allows you to quickly and easily cost out these parts when building a product without having to work it out manually and then enter the value. You get to work with the one consistent formula.

There are two forms of Sell Part Of: Shape and Unit

Shape cut is used when you are cutting out a shape (more than one measure)so it calculates the amount of pieces that are possible form the full sheet.

Unit is when you are using only 1 measure such as cutting extrusion or a lenght of adhesive tape or 1 nut form a unit box of 500.

When Dealing with Unit

A length of extrusion or roll of adhesive tape is bought as a hole but then cut down into shorter lengths. This type of component can be set up as a sell part of component. You add in the length of say 48" and then each unit represents 1" so when you add 3 to a bill of materials you get the cost for three inches of extrusion.

When dealing with Shape Cut

AwardPro works out how many pieces you will get out of the original sheet size and divides this value into overall cost of the sheet. (sheet cost is $80.00 – you get 10 pieces out of one sheet – so the ‘sell part of’ component cost is $8.00. AwardPro even considers how much stock is left for stock value tally. Of course counting part sheets will never be a perfect equation but it will be close.

Conclusion

This document is designed to be a first introduction to Sell Part Of. You will find lots of documentation in this help system to help you use Sell Part Of and I am sure you will find it a valuable, time saving feature.
