Introduction
The Order Set up facility sets the finish date a certain amount of days before the shipping date so that the Job Sheet and Outstanding Job Schedule are always ahead of the ship date.
Logic
· On the Sales Order screen you enter the customers required by date. This is the day the customer wants the goods in there possession.
· The shipping date has been automatically set to be the day before the Required By date. You can change the ship date to any date.
· The system defaults the finish date (the day you should finish the order) to 1 day prior to the shipping date so that the goods are ready to ship of the Shipping Date.
Order Set Up
You can change the finish date to however many days before the shipping date that you desire. You might set yourself the challenge of having all jobs finished 2 days before shipping to make sure everything is well and truly on time.
Bear in mind that if the customer requires the order on Friday the ship date will be set to Thursday and so in the above image example the Finish date on the Job Sheet and the Job Schedule will be Wednesday.
If the customer is picking up instead of being shipped then you would have the order ready Wednesday fro Friday Pick Up. You could change the shipping date at the time of order manually to adjust the finish date forward.
Short time frame orders tend to look like they are overdue on the Job Schedule but this keeps you focused on these jobs.
